Is the Porsche Cayman S a good investment?
987.2 (2009–2012)
The thesis
The 987.2 S with DFI 3.4L engine (316hp) eliminated IMS and bore-scoring issues of earlier cars. Manual gearbox, hydraulic steering, 0–60 in 5.0s. Currently £19–30k, well within budget. Not rare (higher production than R or Spyder) but offers 90% of the experience. Last naturally aspirated, hydraulic-steered generation before 981 went electric steering. Market hasn't priced in the 'last of' premium yet. Volume dilutes scarcity but accessibility and reliability make it a safe, gradual appreciator.
