Is the Porsche Cayman a good investment?
GT4 (981, 2015–2016, manual)
The thesis
The 981 Cayman GT4 is the first mid-engine GT car from Porsche, powered by a 3.8L naturally aspirated flat-six (385 hp) derived from the 991 Carrera S. All 2,422 units came with a 6-speed manual. Priced at ~£65k new, values have appreciated to £80–110k. The GT4 offers the holy trinity (naturally aspirated, manual, mid-engine) at a more accessible price point than GT3 RS models. However, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS (2022+) with a 4.0L engine may overshadow the 981 GT4's upside. Still, the 981 is the original and the purest—no PDK option, no turbo. Mid-cycle with steady but not explosive appreciation ahead.
