Is the Porsche Cayman a good investment?
987 S (2005-2012)
The thesis
The 987 Cayman S sits in the sweet spot: affordable entry to mid-engined Porsche ownership before values track the 997 GT3 trajectory. With a median of £24,764 and clean manual examples in the £20k-£30k range, it's below the radar relative to the 911 and hasn't experienced the 996/997 run-up. The platform shares DNA with the Boxster but the fixed-roof rigidity and superior chassis balance are being rediscovered. DVLA records 3,298 UK survivors; an 84% sell-through rate shows genuine buyer appetite. This is the last naturally-aspirated flat-six Cayman generation before turbocharging arrived with the 718, and manual gearboxes command premiums.
