Is the Porsche Cayman a good investment?
987.2 Cayman S manual (2009–2012)
The thesis
The 987.2 Cayman S (320 bhp, 3.4-litre flat-six) is the sweet spot of the first-gen Cayman range: DFI engine (no IMS), PASM, and sublime mid-engine balance. Manual examples are increasingly prized as the 718 generation moved to turbo-four power. UK asking prices sit £22–35k for good 987.2 S manuals. The car is modern enough to use daily, analogue enough to thrill, and Porsche's mid-engine chassis at its purest. As more buyers recognise the 987 as the last naturally aspirated, hydraulic-steering Cayman, values are firming.
