Is the Porsche 997 GT3 a good investment?
997.2 GT3 (2010–2012)
The thesis
The 997.2 GT3 is the last GT3 with manual-only transmission and the Mezger flat-six (3.8L, 435PS). With ~2,200 built, it's less rare than the RS but more attainable. UK prices now sit £110–160K for good examples; the model has appreciated steadily since 2018. It offers 95% of the RS experience at a £40–60K discount, and represents the end of an era before PDK-only GT3s arrived with the 991. The 997 generation is widely regarded as the sweet spot of modern GT3s: analogue feel, hydraulic steering, and bulletproof Mezger engine.
