Is the Porsche 911 R a good investment?
991 (2016)
The thesis
The 991 R represents the pure expression of the GT3 philosophy: 500hp 4.0-litre NA flat-six, six-speed manual only, no rear wing, and limited to precisely 991 units. It is the last manual, naturally aspirated GT3-spec 911 before forced induction and PDK dominance. Prices surged wildly post-launch but have settled into a band well above original MSRP; low-mileage UK RHD examples command premiums. With the 992 generation fully turbocharged and manual options vanishing, the R's combination of scarcity, analogue purity, and 'last-of-breed' status is exceptionally strong.
