The thesis

The 997.1 GT3 introduced the first significant power bump over the 996 (415 hp from the 3.6L Mezger) and refined the GT3 formula. Manual-only, naturally aspirated, and currently trading in the $100k–$150k USD range (£80k–£120k). Production of 3,329 units worldwide offers better availability than the 996 GT3 but far tighter than standard 997s. The 997.2 GT3 and RS variants have seen stronger recent appreciation, leaving the 997.1 as a relative value play within the Mezger GT3 family. Not 'early' cycle—prices are stable—but not late either; a solid hold with modest upside.
