Is the Porsche 911 a good investment?

The thesis

Only 600 built in 2011 as the swan-song of the 997 generation, the 4.0 RS is the last GT3 RS with a Mezger engine, manual gearbox, and hydraulic steering. This trifecta of 'lasts' has cemented its status as one of the most collectible modern 911s. UK prices have stabilised around £450k–£700k after climbing from £120k new. The 4.0 RS is a peer to the 991 R and appeals to the same collector base. However, it has already completed most of its appreciation arc; today's buyers acquire a confirmed modern classic at full valuation, with minimal expectation of further upside. The car's significance is beyond question, but timing for investment entry has passed.
