The thesis

The 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 represents the final naturally-aspirated, manual GT3 before Porsche shifted to the 991 generation. With only 600 units produced globally, this is the rarest modern GT3 variant and the last of the Mezger-engined 911s. The 4.0-liter flat-six is revered for its mechanical purity and 500hp output, and the car's limited production and 'end-of-era' status have made it a blue-chip Porsche collectible. Values have appreciated steadily but remain below the stratospheric levels of the 911 R, offering a value entry into last-generation naturally-aspirated GT hardware.
