Is the Porsche 911 (991.1) R a good investment?
Coupe (2016)
The thesis
The 911 R was Porsche's purist special: 991 GT3 RS mechanicals (500hp 4.0L flat-six, 9,000rpm) mated to a six-speed manual, lightweight GT3 chassis, no rear wing. Limited to 991 units globally, it was conceived as the last manual naturally aspirated GT 911 before hybrid era. Already appreciated significantly from £136k list; current £280k–£350k prices reflect strong collector demand. However, cycle position is late—most appreciation has occurred. Rarity and manual transmission remain strong tailwinds.
