Is the Porsche 911 a good investment?
991.1 R (2016)
The thesis
The 991 R was Porsche's surprise homage to the original 911 R—a lightweight, naturally-aspirated 4.0L flat-six with a manual gearbox and no rear wing. Limited to 991 units, it shares the GT3 RS drivetrain but prioritizes driver engagement over lap times. Initial hype drove prices to £869,635; current averages sit around £333,000. The 991 R has cooled from its peak but remains a coveted collector piece as the last 'pure' 911 before the 991.2 went turbocharged across the range. Late-cycle positioning means limited upside, but floor is well-established.
