Is the Lotus Exige a good investment?
S3 V6 S manual coupe (2012–2016)
The thesis
The S3 Exige introduced a supercharged Toyota 3.5L V6 (345hp) with a six-speed manual option, transforming the Exige into a usable mid-engine weapon. The early S models (2012–16) represent exceptional value at £40–50k for coupes, far below the £62k+ cost of newer Sport 350/410/430 variants. Lotus ended production in 2021, cementing the Exige's status as the last of the line. The S3 offers 911 Turbo-level power-to-weight (1,170kg wet) with legendary Lotus handling. Minimal depreciation since new suggests the market recognizes quality, but mainstream collectors haven't yet priced in the 'last Exige' narrative. This is early-cycle: low production, end-of-line, analog driving experience, but still trading below replacement cost.
