Is the Lotus Elise a good investment?
S2 111R / R (2004-2010)
The thesis
Toyota-powered 111R brought 189bhp reliability without the K-series fragility, paired with Lotus chassis purity and a proper six-speed manual. Sits at the upper budget limit but represents the last truly analogue Elise before supercharging and electronics crept in. Overlooked in favour of Exige S2, yet offers 90% of the experience with better usability. Low weight, high involvement, and Lotus rarity in a package that can be driven hard without fear. Values firming as production ended in 2021.
