Is the Audi R8 a good investment?
V8 Manual (2007–2012)
The thesis
The first-gen R8 with 4.2L V8 (420bhp) and six-speed manual is the last naturally aspirated, three-pedal Audi supercar before the V10 and dual-clutch dominance. At the very top of budget (clean UK manuals now £50k–60k), it offers Lamborghini Gallardo underpinnings with Audi reliability and daily usability. Manual V8 R8s are rare (most buyers chose R-Tronic), and the market is just beginning to recognise their scarcity. Quattro all-wheel-drive makes it usable year-round, and the Haldex-based system is simpler/cheaper than Ferrari/Lamborghini exotica. Cycle is early but budget stretch is real.
